Welcome
The Cal Poly Investment Banking Society (CPIBS) was founded for one purpose: to train Cal Poly students for positions as investment banking analysts. The educational program we developed to accomplish this task synthesizes an extensive collection of study materials with hands-on tutoring; step-by-step, start-to-finish guidance; and highly applicable advice distilled from first-hand experience and real-world knowledge. Members typically spend between six and nine months in the program at which point their knowledge base and skills sets have expanded enough for them break into Wall Street. Beyond student success, our mission is, ultimately, to establish a wide-spread, well-regarded investment banking presence within the College of Business; promote awareness of the industry, its major players and the outstanding opportunities afforded bankers, both now and in the future; and, most importantly, perpetuate and expand the club such that future Cal Poly students will never lose access to the materials and instructions we’ve complied.
We are a highly motivated group of individuals with a genuine interest in finance. Our members usually join as underclassmen or juniors, and thus spend at least a year working together toward this common goal. We are always looking for new members and corporate sponsors. Feel free to contact us with any questions.
Winter Quarter 2013: And so it begins..
Interview season is underway! Members are actively pursuing every lead they have and, so far, it's paying off. Everyone is ramping up for first round interviews (some of which start in the next few days!) at banks across the spectrum: a number of bulge-brackets, a few middle-markets and even a boutique or two. Due to the sensitive nature of the interview process, no names, student or bank, will be revealed until the internship contracts are signed and filed. But rest assured, things are looking good.
Good luck to those of you beginning the process. This is it, what all the work was for. Crush it.
